"I start early and I stay late, day after day after day, year after year. It took me 17 years and 114 days to become an overnight success".
Any guesses who said that?
The answer is Argentina’s star footballer Lionel Andrés Messi. The footballer’s words are motivational. His efforts were phenomenal too. To achieve his dream, he had to sweat it out on the field for years to become the sensation that he is now known to be.
The Eye Of The Fish
When Arjuna raised his bow to hit the moving fish by focusing on its eye through a reflection in the water, he could succeed because of his sheer concentration.
Likewise, if you have a single-minded focus on cracking the Joint Entrance examination JEE or National eligibility cum entrance test NEET, nothing can stop you. To stay motivated, here are a few points to follow.
1. Prepare to Give Up
You read it right. Prepare to give up… all the excuses and excesses that take you away from your goal of cracking the NEET or JEE main examination . Start with the syllabus two years before you actually appear for the entrance exam.
It’s not early. It’s just right.Juggling school curriculum and the vast syllabus might seem daunting. Let’s be honest. It is daunting. Utilize the two years prudently
2. You Need A Plan
"The key to a successful learning environment is structure"
— Cara Carroll, Teacher and Author
Go through the syllabus thoroughly: Make sure you learn about all the topics in the JEE/NEET syllabus and are updated with the changes in the exam pattern.
Make a long-term strategy: Your strategy should include targets to complete all topics of each of the subjects, and should leave time for revision, mock tests or pyqs of JEE/ NEET 2020 etc.
Make a short-term strategy: Once you have set your long-term goals, make short-term strategies to intertwine with your long-term goals. Let's say you are aiming to finish three topics by the end of the week as your long-term goal. Carve out time for revision of last week’s topics in the current week's plan.
Make a time-table: Splitting your study material over the week or months is important. That way, you will know what you need to do on that particular day, week or month.
As you meet your goals, you will be happy knowing that you are on track and in control. This will not only keep you upbeat and confident but will motivate you to do better.

Having a positive peer group that will help you experience friendly competitiveness. However, do not compare your schedules or test scores with others. You might unknowingly benchmark yourself against your friends and that would subconsciously affect your moral .
4. Make Time To Unwind
Two years is a long time to follow the same schedule over and over again. It can get to you. Spend time with friends, family and yourself.
Relax and fuel up with short holiday breaks. If you have a hobby, stay with it. It will help you unwind and refresh your senses. Don’t forget to have a life.
● Sports: Play an outdoor sport like badminton, football or swimming.
● Books: Reading is a great way to relax. Get lost in it. But keep track of time as well.
● Music: Play your favourite tunes and see your stress sway away.
● Family and friends: Spending time with family and friends is the best way to de-stress.

WHAT NOT TO DO
● Video games or mobile games: These are addictive. If you do indulge in it, make sure they aren’t championships. In fact, download games that impart information along with entertainment like online Sudoku or chess.
● Social Media: Instead of swiping left and right all the day long on social media, it’s better to watch a movie. Better still, a documentary that’s informative and entertaining.
● Socializing: Reserve socializing to once a month or when absolutely essential. But don’t turn yourself into an anti-social.
Don’t forget…
… It’s just an exam. You cannot deny there will be a lot of pressure while preparing for NEET/JEE due to less resources in covid-19 pandemic . A little stress is good. It will push you to work fast and efficiently.
But there is a chance that all those long hours, all the planning might not help you clear the exam. IT’S JUST AN EXAM! Sure, there will be disappointments and tears, but remember this exam does not define you or your life. There will be many other opportunities. Many other hurrahs.
Study hard but don’t lose yourself. All the best!
